A Father’s Tribute

Sweet Dreams, Dad…

After a life of faithful service—of seeking and fulfilling your purpose with a noble, humble warrior’s heart—you’ve finally earned your rest. You gave your all to God, to your people, and to your family. And in His grace, your Heavenly Father granted you the dignified, peaceful passing you always hoped for. You finished well.

What an honor it has been to be your child.

You taught me so much—through your words, your choices, your silences. Your unwavering dedication to the task at hand, your rare blend of strength and humility, your sense of duty, your financial integrity, and your fierce defense of the vulnerable have all left deep imprints on my soul. Your love wasn’t loud, but it was certain—quiet, constant, and unmistakable.

And yes, you had your flaws—don’t we all? To those of us closest to you, they were not hidden. You gave so much to your people that we sometimes felt we came second. You pushed us into the world before we thought we were ready. But you never truly let us go. You watched from the door, waiting with open arms in case we ever turned back.

Mum delivered your final message. I received it. I will obey.

And we will keep her busy—just like you planned. We know you left her with tasks and purpose, so the days would pass a little quicker and her heart would not be too still.

I wish I had told you more often how deeply I loved and respected you—not just because you were my father, but because you earned it. God showed me mercy by preparing my heart in advance, letting me know that your time was near. That was a gift. And still, nothing quite softens the sting of goodbye. Except this: we do not grieve without hope.

You’ve gone to the arms of the Everlasting Father—who never dies, never sleeps, never leaves. And in that promise, I find peace. I know we will see you again.

Rest well, Daddy. You were truly one of a kind.

In loving memory of HRH Oba Albert Bamidele Oshin Omiyomade I,
