About Us

A PREAMBLE
It is a well-known fact that the origin of man is traced to Africa. What is perhaps less known
today is how much of the original African cultural influence and spirit spread through the

transformed and impacted upon the history of mankind and survived through its journey.

Our MOTIVATION

“Africa has her mysteries, and even a wise man cannot understand them. But a wise man respects them.”

Miriam Makeba

… Most African scholarship is either unpublished or delayed … [and] the visibility of African scholarship is
kept to a minimum.

Robert Molteno

“Our stories are timeless and tested. They are about us, a people of tremendous strength. Our songs are full of love and life – and the ups and downs of both. They are soulful with the rhythms of a heart that is in sync with nature and wonderment. Our struggles are real and rugged. They beckon our memory to the highest callings of the spirit, to help us rejoice and to overcome.”

Deborah L. Parker

“You were African before you were anything else”

Bose Ogulu

“The strange thing about Africa is how past, present and future come together in a kind of rough jazz, if you like.”

Ben Okri

“The African mind has a lot to contribute, not only to world understanding of the arts, but to an understanding of spiritualism. That is the contribution Africa will make to the world of the future – an injection of sanity into the environment of the universe itself.”

Fela Kuti

“For Africa to me… is more than a glamorous fact. It is a historical truth. No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place.”

Maya Angelou

“Within Africa lies the mystery of both the past and the future, the birth of human civilization and hopes of humanity’s survival. So the stories of the African people, contributions and culture need to be told by Africans. We owe future generations our own account of the beauty, splendor, spectacular resilience, courage, tenacity and adaptability of our spirit. Within those stories we showcase the African model of the human spirit – the first born of God!”
